How to lay underfloor heating
- Pull up the flooring and clean the subfloor. If you’re retrofitting, the first thing to do is pull up the floors and ensure that the subfloor is clear.
- Lay the insulation and install the manifold.
- Cover the heating system in a layer of screed.
- Warm the system up slowly.
Can you put a heat mat on the floor?
Ultra-thin electric underfloor heating mat systems such as a StickyMat system are suited ideally to be fitted on top of an existing concrete subfloor, since it does not alter the floor levels visibly.
Can underfloor heating be run from a combi boiler?
If you have a combi boiler in your home, you can still have underfloor heating installed. If your radiators run off the same boiler as the underfloor heating, you’ll need to have a suitably qualified heating engineer install a two-port valve.
